Amadeus
"There is nothing like having a stylish but very versatile turntable like Stanton's. I'm a sampling music producer, and the T.92 is my best friend when it comes to having the ability to sample in many different ways! I was sold the moment I learned I could change the speed of the song without changing the pitch... INCREDIBLE! The T.92 is a producers best friend."
-- Amadeus
In this day of “instant” computer-generated hits and cookie cutter beat making, producers with true musical ability are few and far between. Bronx-born percussionist Amadeus understands what musicianship means to making songs that will stand the test of time. The young producer has been making an impact on popular music with songs for Busta Rhymes, 50 Cent, Fabolous, Jim Jones, Danity Kane, Donnie Klang, Trina and many more, and is the band director for Atlantic Records R&B star Trey Songz. As the newest addition to Bad Boy’s legendary Hitmen, Amadeus is currently working on Diddy’s next solo album, due for release in 2009, amongst other projects.
Antwan “Amadeus” Thompson discovered his talent and passion for music in grade school, and began playing drums and piano at church (where his is active to this day) and in school bands. His first break came when he produced Foxy Brown’s 2003 single “My Life (Cradle 2 The Grave),” the title track for the Cradle 2 The Grave soundtrack, giving Amadeus his first Gold award. The success of the soundtrack was followed quickly by Foxy Brown’s street single “Get Off Me,” which addressed her tumultuous relationship with rapper Eve. Amadeus has since created thumping tracks for various critically acclaimed artists. He has steadily been building a reputation as one of the most in-demand urban producers in New York, earning Platinum and Gold status with Mike Jones, Cam’ron, Fabolous and Danity Kane.
“I must say the most challenging project I’ve had the opportunity to work on so far is Diddy’s new album,” says Amadeus. “He has been blessed to have traveled the world to see the many varieties of music, and there is so much global influence with this new project. He’s has totally re-invented himself, and I’m working diligently trying to grab hold of his vision musically.”
As Amadeus grows in each of his ventures, he maintains a firm ideal for his talent. “Every day I try to venture into different genres of music, and I will not allow anyone to box me in to having one sound. Some producers are so distinct that when you hear the track you know who produced it immediately. Not me! I want to trick you every time - you will have to read the credits to know I produced it, because it doesn’t sound like the last song I did. It’s difficult, because artists and labels are scared to take chances on different sounds, but I know that in the end I’ll be remembered for my versatility.”
