Disabling ACPI to Reduce Drop Outs

Audio Dropout's in Windows XP can also be reduced by disabling the ACPI battery polling which happens once every 5 seconds. To disable the ACPI driver perform the following:

1) Go to Windows Control Panel.

2) Click on "System".

3) Click on "Device Manager"

4) Expand "Batteries" to view ACPI driver. Right Click "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" and select Disable to disable the driver.
