DJ Young 1

At a tender young age, DJ Young 1 is quickly becoming a rising star. A traditional turntabilist who is inspired by many genres, including old school Hip-Hop, Top 40 Pop, Reggae, EDM and House music, DJ Young 1 puts on quite a show to get people dancing. As the youngest graduate of Jam Master Jay's Scratch DJ Academy in Los Angeles, DJ Young 1 has already made several high-profile appearances, including the San Francisco Supper Club, The Washington D.C., Los Angeles and Salt Lake City Human Rights Campaign Galas, The Grammy® Awards Gifting Suite, The BET Experience and a spotlight on the Queen Latifah Show. She's also made cameo appearances in music videos, Tonight by Jessica Sanchez featuring Ne-Yo and Cravin by MC Lyte, and competed on the NBC reality competition America's Got Talent Season 8. In her most recent accomplishments, she was featured on Rych McCain's Top Ten List of Hollywood's Most Talented Youth. Her highest honor was spinning as a guest DJ for the 2014 White House Easter Egg Roll where she put on quite a show and got people dancing, which was a perfect showcase for First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move Initiative!

Young 1 has experience in using the Stanton SCS.4DJ and while at White House, she used the STR8.150 turntables and the M.203 Mixer for two 30-minute performances. "I had so much fun performing at the White House Easter Egg Roll. To make sure everything was in place before sound check, Gibson's DC showroom sent the Stanton STR8.150 and M.203 Mixer over to the White House ahead of the event. It was perfect! I had all of the gear that I'm used to performing with right at my fingertips, and I didn't have to worry about getting it there!"

As the youngest Stanton endorsed artist, DJ Young 1's musical influence dates back to her mom, Ellen, playing jazz and old school hip-hop throughout her pregnancy. Music continues to be not only a great source of energy, but also a relaxing ritual for the duo. DJ Young 1 credits Charlie Parker, The Ohio Players, Grandmaster Flash, Jam Master Jay and Run D.M.C. for her talent an inspiration.

"With a musical style that's reminiscent of my own childhood, DJ Young 1 was certainly a hit at the White House Easter Egg Roll," says friend, mentor and fellow Stanton endorsed artist, DJ Spark. "It's really awesome to see her talents getting recognition on such a national level. We couldn't be more proud of DJ Young 1 for this event and all of her accomplishments!"

As Young 1 continues on with her career, she is quick to offer advice to up-and-coming DJs and her former classmates at the Scratch DJ Academy. "I always tell anyone that wants to learn how to DJ to always try their best and always finish what they start," she says. "It's important in teaching them everything they need to know to become a great DJ."
